Artist Statement

Handmade objects serve a greater purpose than as nostalgic reminders; they are the physical evidence of actions that have been taken. As informative as any digital documentation, a handmade artifact communicates the motions of the hands and methods of the mind that made them.

Hidden deeper in fiber work is the evidence of intuition of complex geometry. I pursue this intuition with my creation of abstract fiber forms. My intent is not to reject or ignore the historical context in which fiber craft was originated, but to celebrate the tact and geometric understanding of generations of fiber laborers.

Through my work, I attempt to connect with humans who have worked with fiber before me, connect the humans who interact with my work, and connect bodies with the material itself.
